Europäische Union - SOKRATES : LINGUA

The project is funded by the EU SOCRATES LINGUA programme.


SOCRATES

The SOCRATES II programme has two main priorities: promotion of lifelong learning and the development of a Europe of knowledge. Its specific aims are:

 

  • Development of the European dimension in education at all levels;
  • Improvement of foreign language competences;
  • Promotion of co-operation and mobility within the range of general education;
  • Support of the use of new technologies within education;
  • Promotion of equal opportunities within all educational sectors.

The implementation of these targets at European Union level supplements the measures of the member states. The commission ensures that the actions of the program are co-ordinated with the other measures and policies of the community.

 


LINGUA

Aims: Promotion of language acquisition and language instruction

Lingua promotes instruction and learning through trans-national cooperation projects (in partnerships of at least three countries). It promotes awareness and motivation of European citizens regarding language acquisition, it also supports the development of technical materials to aid language acquisition.
